Maybe! If you are going through a difficult time, have felt "stuck", or have a mental health concern, therapy is a good suggestion. Let's talk more to see if it is right for you!
Kristen Weber uses an eclectic, person-centered approach. This means she uses different modalities of therapy depending on the person and problem. She often uses an existential-humanistic, humor, and realistic lens. Kristen Weber is also known to be more straight forward as a therapist, pointing out how clients can be better but also understanding their situation and current thought processes. Therapy sessions are 55-minutes long and consist of talk-based. No topics are off limits. With her background in forensic, she is comfortable with all topics related to mental health.
At Phoenix Rising Mental Health pllc, we take individuals 12+.
We try to keep everything confidential for our teens. There are exceptions:
1. If you tell us you are going to significantly and imminently hurt yourself or others
2. Billing stuff (this may include attendance) if your parents/guardians are paying
3. If you tell us of abuse towards yourself or other minors AND your parents/guardians are safe people to tell. Other reporting requirements may exist
4. If you are doing weed/alcohol/acid/vaping AND doing a dangerous activity with it. Example: Drinking AND driving, smoking weed AND you bought it from a sketchy person, vaping AND using unknown/unlabeled cartridges, drinking alcohol AND passing out from it. Smoking weed with friends that was bought from a store? No parents. Drinking alcohol at home to see what it feels like? No parents.
5. If you tell us we can tell your parents
6. Any state or federal law requiring us to tell your parents/guardians
Sometimes parents reach out to us for advice or updates. We typically provide surface level updates ("they are working hard", "they are participating in therapy") and answer questions about what the parents can do to help without disclosing information about sessions. We inform teens when parents reach out.
After a client turns 18, parents are no longer involved unless other guidelines apply.
Medicaid (CCHA and Colorado Access), Aetna, United, Select Health, Cigna, Oxford, Oscar Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield.
We offer private pay at $90 per 55-minute session. Our rates will be raised January 2026 to $100 per 55-minute session. This is lower than industry standard. We do offer sliding scale down to $60 (typically $70) per session for some cases. We can not offer private pay for those with Medicaid. Ever.
Depends! Sometimes deductibles are more expensive than private pay. Sometimes people do not want to use insurance as they do not want a diagnosis (yes, if you use insurance for mental health services, providers are forced to diagnose a mental illness in order for insurance to cover). Sometimes health insurance does not cover mental health. Sometimes people don't have insurance.
We try not to have a waitlist, so we will typical refer to trusted providers if individuals reach out. As of currently, Phoenix Rising Mental Health is not taking therapy clients until September 2025.
Maybe! Some individuals may feel lost when it comes to their mental health. The purpose of evaluations is to getting proper diagnosis, feedback of symptoms, and recommendations about what to do next.
No. The exception being Medicaid (Colorado Access and CCHA). Our evaluations start at $600. ADHD evaluations typically are around $700-1000. Autism Evaluation are typically around $800-1200. This is well below industry standards. We provide a Good Faith estimate prior to starting evaluations.
Yes, in the state of Colorado fully licensed, master degree level mental health providers can diagnose mental illnesses (including ADHD and autism) and perform psychological/mental health evaluations. This is agreed upon by the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and Pearson, Pars, and WPS (the owners of most assessments). As long as the provider is trained in statistics, assessments, and ethics as well as competency in the specific assessments, they are allowed to evaluate. Kristen Weber has over 5 years of diagnostic and assessment background as well specific training in WAIS and ADOS. The only entity who disagrees with master's level evaluations is commercial insurance. This means commercial insurances will not reimburse the evaluator. We can not use commercial insurances because they will not let us use them.
Yes, Kristen Weber is competent in the ADOS, WAIS, and WISC. The ADOS is the "gold standard" in autism assessment. The WAIS and WISC tend to be the go to for IQ testing. Please note that we will not do IQ testing without a medical or educational reason. Asking for an IQ test to prove to your friends that you are "smart" is not a valid reason.
